Business knowledge. Unrealised value.
Your business records may be worth more than you think.
We acquire and license business archives, operational documentation and intellectual property. An additional source of proceeds for business owners and insolvency estates.
For businesses trading, restructuring or closing.
The opportunity
Value beyond the balance sheet.
Businesses accumulate valuable knowledge over years of operation. Technical records, documented processes and project histories may retain commercial value beyond their original purpose.
These assets can be overlooked when a business changes hands, restructures or closes.
Marden Partners assesses selected materials and explores a practical route to acquisition or licensing.
Who we work with
Different circumstances. Additional value.
Operating companies
Established businesses with substantial historical records, technical documentation or operational knowledge that may have commercial value beyond their original purpose.
Exiting business owners
Owners preparing for a sale, succession or closure who wish to explore additional value from business archives and intellectual property.
Insolvency practitioners
Administrators and liquidators seeking additional realisations for creditors from records and intellectual property that may otherwise be overlooked during the disposal process.
What we consider
Operational knowledge
Procedures, playbooks, training materials, templates and internal knowledge bases.
Technical documentation
Software documentation, engineering records, specifications and project archives.
Business workflows
Task histories, process logs and documentation of how work is organised and completed.
An opportunity may involve a selected collection rather than an entire archive. Scope and exclusions are agreed individually.
Businesses we consider
Specialist businesses. Accumulated knowledge.
Our initial focus is businesses with approximately 30–200 employees, although we consider opportunities outside this range. Historical records from businesses that have ceased trading may also be relevant.
We are particularly interested in businesses with established processes, substantial documentation and a history of working through digital systems.
Each opportunity is assessed individually. Inclusion of a sector does not mean that all records are suitable for acquisition or licensing.

Our approach
A clear route from discussion to transaction.
- 01
Establish the opportunity
A short conversation about the business, the records available and who controls them. No documents are required at this stage.
- 02
Define the scope
We assess commercial relevance, ownership and restrictions, then agree the materials to be reviewed.
- 03
Agree the terms
We explore an acquisition or licensing arrangement, with permitted uses, access and responsibilities defined in the agreement.
Who we work with
- Business owners.
- Insolvency practitioners.
- Restructuring advisers.
- Business brokers.
Whether a company is operating, being sold or winding down, we welcome introductions involving business records and knowledge that may retain commercial value.
